The Life of USS Hawaii
- September 30, 1998: U.S. Navy awards contracts for ten Virginia-class submarines to the Northrop Gumman Newport News
- April 9, 2000: Third Virginia-class submarine named USS Hawaii by Secretary of the Navy Richard Danzig.
- August 27, 2004: Keel laid in Groton, Connecticut.
- June 17, 2006: USS Hawaii christened. Governor Linda Lingle of Hawai‘i is the ship’s sponsor; Commander David Solms, USN, her commanding officer.
- June 26, 2006: Construction completed.
- December 2, 2006: USS Hawaii successfully completes her first voyage on open seas (“alpha sea trial”).
- December 22, 2006: USS Hawaii delivered to the U.S. Navy, ahead of schedule.
- May 5, 2007: USS Hawaii scheduled to commission in Groton, CT.
